We exhaust ourselves daily, in an attempt to control far too many things around us. When we're reminded we aren't in control (feels like a slap in the face or breaking heart), we can feel helpless, pissed off, depressed or suicidal. Even those of us who practice being in the flow can find ourselves blind-sided by an event which triggers the coping mechanism of needing CONTROL. Take another minute to finish today's SOUL NOTE, and see if you can begin to shift the focus of your control.
We can only effect change in our external environment by first, going within and taking control of our thoughts (and that pesky inner voice), our inner world. It may take some practice, but once you realize you are in control of your inner world, your Inner Sanctuary, a shift happens in that very moment. Your emotions align with the realization (the thought) that you ARE in control of what's happening within you! Your emotions begin to move towards feelings of appreciation, joy, LOVE, compassion (for yourself and others), and perhaps even bliss. Emotions (whatever kind) create energy within you. This is easily observed when you pay attention to how your body reacts as you experience an emotion (love, hate, sorrow). Energy moves, through anything. Your emotional energy will move beyond your Inner Sanctuary, out into your external world, and then into the external worlds of others, IF they allow it, of course. You cannot control what happens to others, or in their world without their allowing, their desire. They must start within their Inner Sanctuary, just as you have.
